Mawase Charles Falana, Sr, 41, of St. Petersburg, died Friday, November 18, 2022, at Northside Hospital. Mawase was a native of St. Petersburg, and graduated from Northeast High, where he was a standout star on the football field. He was nationally recognized for his football talent, and went on to play college football at University of Virginia, Purdue University, and William Penn University. Mawase finished his degree at St. Petersburg College and then pursued his Bachelors Degree and continued playing college ball at University of South Florida.
Mawase knew no stranger; and was loved by so many. While he spent majority of his career in the restaurant industry, his favorite job was working with at-risk youth. Most recently he volunteered as an assistant coach for the St. Pete Lil Devils 11u, enjoying the opportunity to also coach on the same team as his son, Mawase Jr. He had an infectious smile, and contagious laughter. He had a love for sports and would often say he was the Bucs #1 fan.
Mawase is preceded in death by his mother, Lisa Ann Falana; grandmother, Flora Mae Falana. Survived by 4 sons, and 1 daughter. Mawase M. Falana; Virginia; Flora Falana, Largo. Long time fiance, Kama Conrad, and their 3 boys; Mawase C. Falana, Jr, Malcolm Falana, and Martin Falana of St. Petersburg. 2 brothers, David McGee; Largo, Cherod Poitier; West Palm Beach; and 1 sister, Romanda Falana, Orlando. Mawase loved "all" of his family. However, he had a special motherly affection for his Aunts Rosalyn and Cynthia. He also had a very close bond with his cousin David and Asia.
